FOR CREATIVE COLLEGIANS The NARAS Student Music Awards Nurture Young Musicians and Composers The NARAS Student Music Awards were established in 1989 to recognize, support and encourage exceptional creative abilities and original compositions in the recording arts and sciences at the collegiate level. "The Student Music Awards, along with our Grammy In The Schools program, educational seminars, publications and our NARAS Research Grant Program, are all important vehicles by which the Recording Academy can work to not only educate tomorrow's recording industry professionals and audiences, but also address the serious crisis of music and arts education in our schools," says Recording Academy President Michael Greene. "The Student Awards address the situation at the college level by fostering and encouraging the pre-professional and professional training of young musicians and composers."
